Tufan Ilkkutlu (Ankara)
I was born in 1971 in Ankara. After graduating from TED Ankara College in 1988, I completed my education in Istanbul Technical University (I.T.U.) Department of Mechanical Engineering in1992. Since then, I have been working in our family company in Ankara, regarding domestic and industrial water-treatment systems and technologies. I am married to Vedia.
Having riders (father and elder brother) in my family, was a big chance for me, as a 15 years old beginner. Firstly sitting and touring in the rear saddle of my brother’s Katana in 1986, it turned into my favourite hobby by the time as I took the control. Owning several enduro-touring bikes since then, I met with various nature and culturs with friends. We had great biking days in Dolomities-Italy, striving for realistic self-evaluation and visualizing our limits. As a member of the first 2 motorcycle clubs of Ankara, BMSK (Baskent Motorcycle Club), and HMK (Hitit Motorcycle Club), I took part in several of the championship organizations (drag, enduro, motocross and scooter cups) as B class judge of Turkish Motorcycle Federation.
Being a participant of OMM Ara-15 course in 2003, with my instructors Selim Demirel and Paolo Volpara, I met with the “Roadcraft System” which improved my riding and helped enjoying totally. Qualified as “competent plus”, I focused on the “System”, riding safer with more fun. After getting a gold degree, in Ara-28 with my instructor Jon Taylor, I succeded to pass the IAM test in my first attempt.
I felt responsible, and by the time it became a pleasure for me sharing my OMM-ARA(Theory-Control and Road) experiences with friends in Ankara in every opportunity. Participated to most of the activities of OMM Ankara, assisted Kaan Tuna(CAT) in the roadcrafts, and helped as a scout/tail in Ara-Road.
Being invited and selected for such a team, among competent rider friends, I felt myself responsible for improving to the best in order to complete this tuition successfully. As “Knowing how to do” and “how to teach what has to be done” are two different skills, I decided to participate in OMM-CAT training. Having witnessed around some preventible accidents, because of the lack of the “System”, will be another motivation for me, to serve rider friends in achieving, safe high competence in their riding. Without being involved in any bike-accident since 1986, I have to continue learning to keep on “riding safe” for more years .
The last but not the least, “Riding is fun” and it is obvious that, I began enjoying more and more, while riding, after I met with OMM. As a member of OMM-Ankara group, we have “excellent riders”, who are examples to others. I plan to help increasing the number of “excellent, confident, quality riders”, having fun and riding One More Mile in Ankara. |
